Located a few kilometres south of Marrakech (25 km), the Agafay desert is often forgotten by tour operators and is not on the tourist route. In a way it is so much the better because you can discover a preserved nature where palm groves, wadis and villages subtly dress this lunar landscape. This Marrakchi desert, as the Berbers call it, is essentially made up of stones and rocks in an undulating environment. Calm and tranquillity guaranteed. You will be able to go horseback riding or walking. At the bend of a hill, you will discover eucalyptus, olive trees and vineyards, you have arrived at the enchanted oasis. Going a little further, you can refresh yourself at the lake of Lalla Takerkoust. This vast artificial body of water was created by the Lalla Takerkoust dam. Pedal boating, windsurfing, canoeing, fishing, picnicking and hiking are just some of the activities that can be enjoyed around the lake. For a cool and relaxing break just a camel's ride from Marrakech, the Agafay Desert is a good alternative, little known by tourists.
